Biomedical Imaging and Analysis Facility
The BIAF is situated in The University of Western Australia's Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and is located at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre. The facility was created in 2004 by an amalgamation of equipment previously purchased with grants awarded by Lotterywest under its Medical Research Programme. The major items of equipment consist of a Bio-Rad MRC 1000/1024 UV Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope, a Becton Dickinson FACS Vantage, FACS Caliber, FACS Scan and a PALM Laser Microdissector. The BIAF specialises in providing high-level expertise, advice and training on the use of these instruments and related laser and fluorescence based techniques.
