Confocal Microscope Training Programme

Due to the complex nature of the microscope, all users are required to undergo individual training, even if they have previous confocal experience. Training is run on an "as required" basis and no charge is made for training. Contact for more information.

Introductory Confocal Microscopy Training
(2 hours) - (group session, maximum 6 people)
Usually held in BIAF, room 1.42, M block, QEII (see Map for location)

- theory,
- fluorescence and filters,
- principles of confocal microscopy,
- image analysis and data presentation,
- digital imaging,
- examples of applications,
- principles of specimen preparation.

Practical Confocal Microscopy Training
(3 hours) - individual instruction, "hands on".

- construction of the microscope,
- proper care of the instrument, (do's and don'ts),
